ANTIBIOTIC SENSITIVITY TESTING ON EGGS FROM LAYERS TREATED WITH ANTIBIOTIC

A RESEARCH PROJECT

ABSTRACT

Antibiotic sensitivity testing is the susceptibility of bacteria to antibiotics, it is carried out to determine which antibiotic will be most successful in treating a bacterial infections. The total mean colony count of the bacterial isolates in the two set of egg sample  carried out showed the mean total bacterial count as 0.33x102 – 3.6 x 102 cfu/ml. While the antibiotics sensitivity testing of bacterial isolate isolated from two set of egg sample on four types of antibiotics showed the inhibition zone as follows Norfloxacin (≤ 13mm - ≥ 18mm) Gentamycin (≤ 17mm - ≥ 18mm); Rifampin (≤ 13mm - ≥ 18mm); Levofloxacin (≤ 18mm - ≥ 19mm).

Abstract The study was carried out to determine the effects of Moringa oleifera leaf powder additive on the growth of layers, egg production and nutritive value of eggs. Specifically, the study sought to determine among others the effects of Moringa oleifera leaf powder fortified feeds and control feed on the growth of layers, effects of different... Continue Reading
ABSTRACT Back ground: Staphylococcus aureus is a gram positive bacteria that exists on the skin as nonnal flora. It is classified as Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA), where MRSA is resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics. MRSA has become a predominant pathogen in the health care... Continue Reading
ABSTRACT  Introduction: It has been reported that the main factors behind the emergence of drug resistance is the use and misuse of antimicrobial drugs during the past few decades, but there is also the aspect of epidemic spread of drug-resistant bacteria as a factor. This has caused a major concern with serious implications in human and animal... Continue Reading
