ABSTRACT The study focused on enrolment in ECDE centres on the learning process since the introduction of Free Primary Education (F.P.E) in the year 2003. This resulted into over enrolment in primary schools. Due to this, the researcher decided to investigate on the impact of free primary education on enrolment in ECDE Centers. The researcher used questionnaire as the main tool to collect raw data, which were later filled by the respondents freely without fear and said what they thought about the introduction of free primary education in the year 2003. The researcher targeted 26 ECDE Centres in Kegonga Division and through random sampling she came up with Centres which she carried out the study. The purpose of the study included explaining the importance of enrolment of children in ECDE centres. The study revealed the difference in enrolment in various ECDE centres. Through research, the researcher tried to establish what brings low or higher enrolment in ECDE centres. After establishment of the problems the researcher came up with solutions to them by laying strategies on how to support the ECDE programmes. The researcher also discussed the limitation and delimitation of this study. Defined terminologies used in the study. The collected data was analyzed using the computer packages based on the research objectives.
