Enteric fever is caused by a rod-shaped gram-negative bacteria with Pesitrichus flagella known as Salmonella Typhi. Entero bactrioceal and unhabit the large bowel of human including children. They are found in most food poisoning and traceable to fecal contaminants. They grow both acrobically and anaerobically and are the main cause of enteric fever in children. Micro-organism in the blood sample from paedeatric patients of UNTH Ituku Ozalla, Enugu were tested for salmonella typhi. To do this, blood samples of 82 patients were collected taking cognizance of their difference in age and sex and using bacteriological isolation and widal test method. These blood were cultured and screened appropriately with standard media such as triple sugar iron agar, selenite. F. Broth, Deoxychocolate citrate agar etc. The result of the two methods were to say that the least identified with thirty (30) positive cases, displaying active infection and twenty two (22) indicating weak infection. We concluded that maintaining good sanitary condition, improvement in quality of portable water supply could enhance prevention of enteric fever.
