This project envisages the establishment of a plant for the production of high fructose corn syrup with a capacity of 6,000 tons per annum.
The country`s requirement of corn syrup is met through import. The present (2013) demand for syrup is estimated at 5,000 tons. The demand for the product is projected to reach 8,858 tones and 14,266 tons by the year 2018 and year 2023, respectively.
The principal raw materials required are starch, alpha-amylase, gluco-amaylase, and glucose isomerase. Starch is locally obtained from corn while the other raw materials have to be imported. Corn is leading source of starch both for food and for its use in industries and composed of approximately: 72% Starch, 6%Gluten, 10%Fiber and 12%Germ.

CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION The project is a pre-requisite for the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering. The project “Design and fabrication a corn shelling machine” is indeed an essential one in a time like this when almost al human endeavour is embracing technology for... Continue Reading
ABSTRACT A machine for corn shelling is highly and greatly needed to consistency of usage of corn in local and international levels. With regards to this indispensable needs, a corn shelling machine is designed which operates to remove the corn grains and leaving the cobs intact.... Continue Reading
ABSTRACT This Machine is design and fabricate as a prerequisite for the award of a Higher National Diploma. We sketch different designs which after consideration of many factors like the machine efficiency, the cost of materials e.t.c before we finally embark on this machine. The machine major component are the shaft, the inner barrel, the outer... Continue Reading

ABSTRACT This study was carried out to generate a design data, design and fabricate a maize corn-on-cob tray dryer used by maize farmers. Ripped maize corns with husks were bought from the market and preserved to retained its moisture content, dehusked and thereafter, dried to a given percentage moisture content of 15%. This was done by laboratory... Continue Reading

The word Nematode is derived from the Greek word, what is the word?. Meaning “thread like ones” (nema means “thread” and ode means “like”). Nematodes can therefore be described as thread-like worms. (dropking 2001). Nematodes, eelworms and round worms are synonymous for the same group of organisms. The Phylum Nemata, to which nematodes... Continue Reading
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This work presents the design of a plant that will produce 250000kg/yr of lindane from benzene, chlorine and water at high temperature and pressure using direct chlorination method. The feeds are sent into a chlorinator, the crude product from the chlorinator is continuously decanted into a decanter and the bottom product HCl is... Continue Reading
