ABSTRACT This research evaluated the dimensions and levels of communication and Team work in local governments, particularly Afikpo South Local Government. It noted and appreciated the centrality of communication as the vortex around which organizational success revolves, including Afikpo South Local Government. The study ascertained how managers of local government System tinkered different channels and types of communication through available personnel’s (team) to achieve goals. However there are some problems of communication which to a greater extent impact negatively in the delivery of goods and services in Afikpo South Local Government, hence this study. Hypotheses were formulated to guide the work effectively and questionnaires were obtained through primary and secondary sources. Items were analyzed and presented in tables showing their percentages. Findings show that in practice, all messages are not successfully channeled or received hence they become barriers causing confusion and conflict between persons working on the same job or team group. Nevertheless, we made recommendations aimed at mitigating the seemingly perennial problem(s) of communication and Teamwork in Afikpo South Local Government. Afikpo South Local Government should see the need for team training on communication skills for all its staff and in that regard establish a proper channel of communication for easy flow of information, so as to increase the ability of staff members to interact. Similarly, team members should always communicate among themselves because when a team is not actively communicating, gap will be created and their work will be at stake.
