ABSTRACT

This study was designed to investigate the numerical and comparative analysis of savings and loan facilities using cooperative societies, banks and contributory schemes. The sample used for this study consisted of the market women/men, St Joseph cooperative society and Adeyemi college of education cooperative societies in ondo west local government of ondo state. The validated questionnaire were administered to 200 respondents in the selected population also six research hypothesis were formulated and pearson product correlation is used for the acceptance of the six (6) hypothesis stated. The findings from the study indicated the mode of operation approach, interest rates of both the cooperative society and banks, their economic relevance to the entire populace and also shows that having savings and invest in cooperative society is preferable and has a greater advantage to the society because of the dividends they offer to their members compared to banks which does not. Also, it was recommended that the government should revisit and revive the cooperative bank which has been cancelled and the apex bank should also no how the interest rates on loans should be reduced drastically so as to allow more small scale business
