INTRODUCTION

Background to the Study

Education is an enlightened experienced, it is a state attained after through systematic instructions from an higher developed intellectuals. This enlightenment is the knowledge gained from higher brained to a lower brained who put it into practice (Fafunwa,2000). This enlightenment has been defined as life span of a man from cradle to grave. The enlightenment is the knowledge pass onto the lower brained from the higher brained. It(enlightenment) is dated back to the existence of first man, prophet Adam (A.S). Enlightenment was passed onto him by Almighty Allah in naming things as the yardstick to promote him over the angels.(Quran,chp 2 vs 31).

The passing of knowledge is termed "Teaching" as the receiver is undergoing "Learning". These brought about existence of Teacher who passes knowledge to the student who received the knowledge. The knowledge is in two aspects I.e Oral and Literacy. Oral is the knowledge passed verbally. It is the oldest means of knowledge. It require no documentation but assimilation in form of memorization.( Fischer,2004). Literacy enlightenment is the development of WRITING techniques dated back to 3500B.C in Egypt by the Egyptians. Hiereroglyphs were in use as far back as 3400B.C. Followed by the development of the oldest alphabet in central Egypt around 2000B.C from hieroglyphic prototype. After the Egyptian alphabets was the formation of the Greek alphabets, later the Russian, Hebrew and Arabic alphabets. The Chinese alphabets came up in 1200B.C in the Shang dynasty. Education was perfected in Oral and Writing which paced fast growth of Education.( Fischer, 2004).
