ABSTRACT

Web Based Census Management System includes the sets of methods that allow us to measure the dimensions and dynamics of populations. The aim of the study is to Design and Implement a Web Based Census Management System. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to develop a: computerized software that automatically stores and retrieves all information on human population, reliable system that could be used in collecting data/information on human population, and system that will support direct access to the specific and required information. The motivation came after the last census exercise conducted in Nigeria. Most people were counted while many missed the count, this is because the man power wasn’t enough for the exercise, and the census exercise lacked adequate supervising. But with the introduction of a computerized System will be more reliable. The methodology adopted in this study is the object oriented analysis and design methodology (OOADM) which is a technical approach for analyzing and designing an application or system by applying object throughout the software development process. The programming language used is HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL and JQUERY. The reason why web programming languages was used is because, it is platform independent and it is a web based application. This project will be of benefit to the National Population Commission. Huge of files kept in the offices will no longer be there again because information will be stored on the computer with the help of the database program. The expected result is a Web Based Census Management System that will process, monitor and analyze the population census in a specific location, and the system will retrieve accurate census information from data provided by the citizen.
