Abstract

The Study is an Assessment of the Determinants of successful Internationalization of the Clothing and Textile Industry in Nigeria. A secondary data research approach involving explanatory and descriptive designs was used to collect and analyse data from World Bank, United Nation, and Association of Nigerian Manufacturers. The findings are that internationalization is positively influenced by Network relationship and negatively influenced by infrastructure and export barriers which include market knowledge and more. The researcher also observed that contrary to contemporary literature, corruption being a social problem does not influence internationalization. We therefore argue that unless export knowledge, orientation and infrastructure devise were imputed to cushion SMEs and expose them to the internationalization process, the number of SMEs that do business internationally will continue to dwindle.
