Abstract The study was to determine the effect of Drug Abuse on academic performance in Saint Columbans primary. The questionnaires were used in this study because it is fast to collect data. The researcher used the systematic sampling procedure where every 5th pupil of both P7 and PS were selected giving a total of forty respondents. The findings were that those who engage in drug abuse have low academic performance unlike those who keep away from drugs. Most pupils take drugs to copy teachers who take them. It was a clear indication that drugs do not enhance interest in studies and sports resulting in low academic performance. There is a significant relationship between the degree of drug abuse and the level of academic performance of pupils. The researcher feels that there should be a comprehensive training of teachers on dangers of drug taking and to sensitize the community.
