ABSTRACT
the study tries to evaluate the effectiveness of rates collection as a means of improving internally generated revenue of ado local government council in ekiti state and to produce a realistic picture of the impact rates collection a tool for controlling community development.
The imposition and collection of rates has many implications on both the local government, companies and individuals managing one or two businesses within the L. G.
The method used for the research of this project work were personal interview and questionnaire. It is obvious that the mode of rates collection is inadequate as administered by Ado local government authority.
Identifying the major findings and to suggest better ways to improve he process since the practice has been identified as a proof of economic growth.
The institution as the rates collection has made it possible to achieve economic growth and can also work successfully if allowed in the state in general.
My conclusion of the study was that since rates collection has been found viable in the community, government should encourage its usage more, through enlightment, provision of facilities for its effective utilization.
It is my candid opinion that the above suggestion if uphold by the government will achieve economic growth in no measure.
