                                                                                        Abstract
This study examines microfinance Institutions(MFIs) contributions towards entrepreneurship development in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State ,Nigeria .The study was descriptive using questionnaire to source data from sampled small-scale entrepreneurs in Awka South .The data obtained were analysed using the Chi-Square (x2) test. The result from the test however shows that microfinance has an impact on entrepreneurial development and alsothat there is a significant relationship between entrepreneurial development and industrial development of  Anambra State. However, microfinance has been able to fulfill part of its objectives of extending microcredit to the economically active poor. It was concluded that microfinance institutions and their activities go a long way in the determination of the pattern and level of economic activities and entrepreneurial development in the Nigerian economy. The study recommends that entrepreneurs should be more receptive to new ideas and be prepared to make financial commitments to ensure growth. It was also recommended that guidelines by microfinance institutions to finance entrepreneurship be more flexible to accommodate the entrepreneurs to ensure success in the Small and MediumEnterprise (SME)
