ABSTRACT

Integration of documentation and information based computerized services in information system is a tremendous means to help land and housing estate professionals in their daily practice and to improve its quality. Effort is continuously being made in designing and developing economically and reliable land information management system. With this background, this project work focuses on the design, development and deployment of a computer based land information management system, using the Osun State Ministry of Land and Housing as a case study.

In this work, the project approach involves the following steps: a feasibility study is carried out in the Osun State Ministry of Land and Housing to get insight into their activities; investigation and fact finding to extract a wealth of knowledge from their staffers; model design and implementation of land information management application using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 and crystal report pro which constituted the front end (user interface), and Microsoft Office Access 2003 as the backend (database) component; and finally the training of the would-be users through the use of user manual which explains every detail the user need to know.

The developed land information management system makes it possible to keep a database of all the lands in the state, enables retrieval of land information with a fast response time, thereby enhancing quick access to land and housing records, among others.
